Talk to me about cisterns
Re: Talk to me about cisterns
My mother in law had a cistern on their farm in PA. She and her sister had to get down in it every summer and scrub it out. That's probably why she never blinks an eye at doing the dirtiest jobs. My former town of Hancock NH, every house on Main St. rented water from a tavern, now Historical Society, they owned a well up on a hill and had gravity fed water to the cisterns in the houses along the road. The center of town sits on 300 feet of sand, so digging a well was problematic.
