Finally got a railing in place

Post by Sow's Ear Mal »

Hey all. I was given a balustrade from a house contemporary to ours, but the parts were from an upper hallway rather than the actual stairs. I used it, but had to splice the hand rail pieces, and I only had enough simple 1x1'' balusters to do this spacing. When I find more of the same, I'll double the frequency of balusters. No toddlers in my home, so building inspectors don't have to be concerned, lol. Had to make up a simple newel post as it was missing.---Mal

Yes, a cold beer and a job well done. Hard to beat that combination. Mal, place looks great. Well done. That exposed wall with the off white cabinets and the rustic beams, you'll be he envy of the stone house set.

It looks nice. ! my staircase had no pickets so I made some and tapered all 4 sides. I like the look. I spaced them to what I feel appropriate then one day I learned that you aren't supposed to be able to fit a 10CM ball through anywhere.. well darnit.. I think I got mine a bit far apart and now I'm to lazy to fix it..
