Exactly. I have a Metabo Paint Shaver coming so I can experiment with removing the lead paint/priming/repainting the exposed bits - but removing all of the vinyl is going to be quite the undertaking. I want to make sure that I'm absolutely ready for it or don't delve too deep right away. I'm going to start with those eaves and the porch.

This probably isn't a forever house for me so in some ways you have to be smart about where you spend your efforts. While still being fair and doing right by the old girl.

Sorry, a bit late to the party, but "Holy crap, that looks soooo much better!"
The squirrel may have been a jerk, but look what he showed you. That looks great with the rafters exposed again.
I've just completed a back porch to my place, trying to look craftsman style, so I am a big fan of what you have.

I feel sorry for the people in PA, but was bemused by their comment about getting a home inspection, like that would even cover a situation like this. Did they honestly expect the inspector to open up walls to check for animal carcasses? C'mon!

Homescribehistory when I tore off the siding to my house they had ripped the roof returns off and I had huge holes, they took off the rain guard, the caps over the windows and chopped the sils... I had a huge amount of things to repair, just preparing you for the unexpected.

Yeah I won't actually be doing this until at least next summer, when I'm actually prepared to do it with time and money. I'll hope for a result similar to Sara's.
