Neighmond, we forget in the age of electric saws and drills how much work went into building our pre electricity homes.

You know it! My shop is mostly hand and foot power, and people who have never seen a people power shop can't seem to believe it can be done without the electricity!

Pretty well finished m stair project. A little bit of fussing left and then the clean up, sanding dust gets everywhere.





Looking at th risers in this picture, I might give them another round of stain.

Well, I have now got paint on the second storm window, just have to paint the opening now. Doing refresh work is sure easier than the restoration work do to 70 years of deferred maintenance.

Do you paint your storm window frames the same color as the sash? What is your opinion on same vs. different colors?

James, I paint my storms and sashes the same colour. As you may know often sashes were painted a separate colour from the storms to bring emphasis to the window details say black green or highland green, the window surround painted the major trim colour. I think both methods were used equally, maybe leaning one yaw or the other depending on prevailing trends at time of painting..

I’ve just started curing the room of the white paint disease.

More deconstruction, removed the horrid fake brick wallpaper. This is what we have.
The room originally had a parlor stove, you can see the patch on the chimney. On the right you can see the run for the forced air heat to the bedroom above. Unfortunatly the ceiling molding had been broken and the trim oat the floor removed. I have a tentative plan to repair. The big issue is how to finish this off in the end.
