- Showing patched wall where they basically sledged through the original house wall and left the stones jagged. Mason filled in with brick and stone to stabilize. The odd shape is due to the original exterior window on the left bleeding into the "new" doorway.

Re: Wild Geese Stone House
Whoops! Some of those are out of order, but I tried to show before/after shots. Other notes- The main house (bedrooms, dining room, kitchen) are around 1830s. The front door, living room and office are a 1950s addition.
All the wood floor is original, saved from 3 layers of tiles, linoleum and new wood. The floor in the attic is the quartersawn white oak that was the 1950s paneling in that dark dining room. It actually turned out to be from a church nearby (written on the back), so it is 3 times re-used! The floor in the 1950s living room is the old attic floor boards. They looked horrible, so horrible, but magically came out as beautiful heart pine when re-milled.
The fireplace was turned into a bathroom, but I used old brick and re-built it on the existing hearth. All plaster is 100% historic lime plaster, no guage, to let the stone breath. Took a TON of time and still can't hang artwork on it, but hopefully it was worth it.
All the original window trim and floor trim was under all the 1950s renovations and paneling. There is still a lot to be painted and replaced (had templates made for replacement trim if it was in bad shape). Trim is the bulk of what I have to do!
Any specific questions, let me know...otherwise, enjoy some photos

No questions, but most definitely a compliment. You have managed to keep the flavour and feel of an 1830's home while bringing the comfort level into the new millennium. Most definitely well done.

So Beautiful! What's with the little cubby on the chimney in Guestroom 1? Did you keep that? Or was that just built into the wall?

What a difference.
Amazing to read how so much wood was renewed and/or repurposed.
