Folks, upper management has read an article suggesting now(late summer early fall) is the time to be moving planting’s about and separating. It’s my understanding the long standing current wisdom states plants should moved while dormant and split in early spring.
She explaines the logic as being the roots if transplanted now have time to establish befor the plant goes dormant.
Thoughts.

Similar here. Fall is the best time to divide perennials.

Having said that, I'm a Darwinist Gardener and have divided them in the spring and summer too. Didn't really seem to hurt them much, though they are less likely to bloom if you divide and transplant in the spring.

 natural selection. If it lives it gets to stay. I think that’s the strategy of the common Dandelion. It seems to be too successful at Darwinian evolution.
