The Historic District

As a horticulturist, I'd like to inject some authenticity into the garden at my new (1918) house in Alabama. I came across the title mentioned in the subject line of this post (authors, Rudy and Joy Favretti) and wondered if anyone here has knowledge of the book. Specifically, I was wondering if it's only for large-scale spaces; mine is a small city plot. Additionally, does anyone have suggestions for resource material for early 20th century gardens and garden design? The president of the Historical Commission is also the town librarian, so that will be a good start.

I've not seen it but it sounds very interesting!

There is an earlier (1990) volume by the same authors, For Every House a Garden: A Guide for Reproducing Period Gardens. I may have to pick up a copy of one of them, since the topic is interesting to me beyond how it applies to my project.
