It's actually aqua but in the photo it looks green ? Note matching wall oven. Pink countertops and an exciting floor:

oh willa, how thoughtful!!
my favorites are the second one because of the overall look, the 'atomic' linoleum floor, fresh veggies in the sink and I can throw open the casements in good weather...
also the third one, probably 1920's with the stove...I like the fact that the 'men' are in the kitchen, a kitty in the house, the icebox on the bottom left, the floor, sink window and the assumption that there is a pantry off to the side...
thanks for letting me dream!

how about this kitchen?? it's from ebony/jet magazine headquarters and is to be dismantled and preserved as a remnant of significant cultural style of the time...

I saw the photos from the Ebony/Jet HQ a few years ago and was just blown away. They really let whoever designed it run wild, in a good way. I had a friend who was really into vintage style, esp.the 70's era and she LOVED those images. I think that decor must have been made that office a much more creative place to work. The decor was not for the faint of heart !

I have a copy of that 20s chartreuse kitchen in my files. I find the colors and natural daylight inviting (the Danish "hygge"). That peach sink, in good condition today, would be worth a small fortune. I wonder what the purpose of the stool is. Too low to sit, no point in standing. For a child to do the dishes?
The kitchen below with the cramped peninsula seating has the same red floor (Armstrong 5352) as my parents' house in Connecticut. At the time, the contractor offered them the choice of linoleum or vinyl; to my dismay (today), they chose the more 'up-to-date' (and easier-to-install, no doubt) vinyl.

Here's the kitchens from Ebony/Jet. Apparently the kitchen with the swirling wallpaper was the TEST KITCHEN - where recipes in the magazine would be tested and approved. I can't imagine how amazing this workplace must have felt. Apparently the interior designers, who did the offices were killed by a drunk driver in 1974. What else could they have designed if their lives hadn't been cut short ?

Yes, a large antique drainboard sink in peach would be quite a find today. The illustrations always make the spaces look so enticing. In real life that chartruese might be overwhelming if you matched your paint chip to the illustration. The way the illustrations are styled presents quite a fantasy of life - beautiful, colourful, tidy, with lots of carefully matched items. I suspect that kitchen was probably an ad from American Standard, Crane, etc. for the sink.
RetroRenovation did a story about that pattern of flooring. I think it was a very popular pattern from the 1920's to the 70's (or maybe beyond) that was available in many colorways.

I just had a look at that article and, in the comments section, someone who had recently sent a letter to Armstrong pleading for them to re-issue some of their old linoleum designs, received this response: “Unfortunately we are discontinuing our genuine linoleum products.”

I found another green kitchen for Jade:
There is no way I could cook in that swirling mess of a test kitchen. It made me dizzy just looking at the pictures!
