Crazy interior

We were in Milan Ohio (Edison's birthplace) today and drove around a bit looking at the old houses. We came across this newer built home that actually fit in the neighborhood. We had to take a good look at it to see that it was newer construction.

So I looked it up on my zillow ap and was shocked at the interior.

We've never seen anything like this.

The exterior is great for being a 1980's house. It was in a historic neighborhood and looked like it belonged there. We had to look closely to see if it was newer or if it had been remodeled.

I think the outside is lovely and well maintained, and they are very into their gardens.

The inside, sadly with exception of the kitchen and baths, looks like it would be just a LOT of work doing paint and paper correction. The kitchen and baths on the other hand, look like they would need demo and redo. Also the house seems to be listed about $75-$100K more than i should be...they must be looking to recoup all of the time and energy to...umm...customize the interior.

Was any one reminded of Alice in Wonderland... I was expecting to see the queen of spades in a picture. I know you want to tailor it to what you love but did they even once consider resale... that is a ghastly interior.

I was wondering if The House On the Rock was opening an Ohio location (Wisconsin over-the-top tourist site).

Actually - I think I could make it work for me by just editing out 90% of the dizzying array of paint effects. Kinda liked the tree design & floral frieze along top of walls but that's about it. a little goes a long way.

It's not for me, but it clearly made the last owner happy.

I'm active on decorative painting discussion forums. Oh my! You should see what homeowners ask for.

Once it sells, the original owners will want to stop by to see if you kept any of their fixes. Not.
