So I was talking to a coworker today, and remembered one of the old ladies in my family would lay the babby (securely seated or with pillows all around) on top of the piano and set the stool with the leg on the sustain (loud) pedal. The strings would vibrate in sympathy with some of the room sounds and it must have seemed soothing to the babby, because they always lay quietly.
Anyone else remember odd little quirks like this?

Cool, gotta try that at home. See if it drives the cats crazy!

I had a P.O. who fixed the leaking iron pipes by slathering them in epoxy and then wrapping that with tin foil does that count?

While working in the open crawl space under my house, we discovered a hole in the floor where a pipe had been removed was plugged with an dried corn cob. Apparently it worked. We left it there.

Similar, they plugged a hole in the hardwood floor for a phone wire with a pencil.
