New ceiling light

Post by mattswabb »

I'll show off my wife's work. A few weeks ago we picked up a light fixture from an antique store that was is rough shape and missing some of the crystals.

She took it apart and cleaned it up and tried a bunch of different ways to apply patina to the brass. Ended up buying a solution and it turned out great. Then applied a wax to it. Then I rewired it. We plan on buying LED Edison bulbs for it.

Here it is during assembly

And the finished product

We are both very happy with it. We still need to do 3 more like this. This one is in the living room. We need a dining room light, a simpler one for the parlor and an even simpler on for the upstairs landing.

It looks good! I always liked that sort because they weren't overly froufou and didn't hang down too far.

We put in five 14 watt cfl (60 watt equivalent) to judge what we really need when we ordered the Edison style LED's.

It is so bright with those bulbs.

Matt, that is a very nice light. How many crystals on each drop. I count 14 from the picture. I have three pan lights ready to be restored but upper management does not like them so they are sitting neglected in a box. If I drill some holes in the edge I can add the crystals. Maybe upper management will like them then.

I count 14 as well. We had a lot of them but had to buy a few. Some were off eBay and some here http://www.mylampparts.com/Departments/ ... RISMS.aspx
