Greetings from Indiana (again!)

Post by Salt Creek (WavyGlass) »

Hello!

I was previously Hoosier Foursquare but let my account lapse and was too lazy to get it reactivated plus it's been so long I almost feel like a newbie around here :) Getting busy with family plus being out of the country for 6 months without good internet access or the down time didn't allow for much free time to browse.

My family and I are the owners of a fairly unique limestone home in Indiana. Know locally as "The Furst House" The home was built in 1901 and was classified as an American Foursquare even though the floor plan says otherwise. After purchasing it, we spent 9 months repairing/restoring the home to make it habitable again after sitting empty for 3 long years and the work still continues today.

Here's a few pictures of our home that were taken a couple weeks prior to Christmas during a locally sponsored home tour that benefits cancer survivors. The outside shot is the only one that isn't from this time frame.

Wow the interior shots are stunning; beautiful features & woodwork. Do I see some framed military awards on the wall in one photo? Is that why you were out of the country for 6 months? I have a number of those too!

Thanks! the woodwork was what originally sold us the house. Just walking into the foyer for the very first time was like "WOW!".

Yes, that is my minimalist "Glory Wall". I had everything in a box and my wife thought that some of my stuff would look good on the wall. She pretty much lets me have free reign over the Sitting Room to do with what I please as far as decorations.

Yep, directly related even though I'm retired from Active Duty. I was in Afghanistan for about 6 months supporting SOCOM assets. What about you? What branch did you serve in?

I thought I would include this picture as well, it's the lynch-pin in the Foyer (in my opinion!)

Hello once again Salt Creek. I remember your home from a while back. As others have mentioned great home. Your newel fixture, was born electric, was the home built with electricity?
