We got a little bit more work done today. Hopefully it won't rain on us again before we can get the roof back on. We still have lots of work to do, but it is coming along pretty fast.

Here is a picture of my daughter and her husband, son and a cousin in front of the house. They do Civil War reenactments, and came over in costume one day. They look like they belong there.
and then I found a few pictures of the inside from a couple of years ago.

Thanks, we do too. most of the time It is becoming more work than we thought it would be, but we aren't in a huge hurry to get it finished, Hopefully we will in our lifetime, then it will be the children's problems! LOL. The 2 oldest girls love it so I m not worried about leaving it to either one of them. My youngest though, doesn't care one way or another though. She likes new stuff, but the other ones actually lived in this house when they were younger, with my late hubby, Then their grandparents bought it and we [my hubby] bought it from the in laws after they passed away. So we are trying to keep it in the family. It was even built by my MIL's cousins in the 1850's and one of the cousins was a descendant of my son in law, [the one that is working on it.] So there is a lot of history to this house.

I notice you have a fireplace in your kitchen/dining area. Is this the original setup? I ask this because my house's dining room and kitchen are in the same room, with a good-sized fireplace plus wood stove hookup (preserved intact, but hidden by my microwave). My house is a tad newer than yours, but I haven't seen that particular layout much.

Yes it is. I love the fireplaces, I have ne in the bedroom and living room. But there are gas heaters hooked up to them right now. The chimneys need to be reworked before they can have a fire in them.
At least it was like this 40 years ago, but I am sure it is the original design. The ones in our bedroom have a date carved in the stones that say 1875, and it looks just like the one in the kitchen.

Here are some more pictures of our house in progress, We have new rafters on and hopefully the new roof will be going on soon. The other ones are of my upstairs balcony. We opened up the double doors up there yesterday. As soon as I can get it cleaned a little more I will take some more.

Your house charming & has many nice details. The mantles on the fireplaces are beautiful & the decorative railings etc. are wonderful. I understand better your Hoosier cabinet in the kitchen. All tied together better! ;)
