We are very pleased with the job the architect did on the carriage house design. We went online and did a search for carriage houses and saved photos of all the ones we liked. Then we went around the neighborhood and took photos of the ones we liked or details that we liked. One of the buildings we liked was an old firehouse and a lot of the influence came from that building. Good call Clover.

We gave all this to the architect and, Viola! That is what she came up with. We have added a third garage door and a balcony on the yard side. The balcony will be held up with beams that go through the whole building instead of ground supports in order to not mar the view.

Don, It would be fabulous to tear out that porch and turn that stairway door back into a window. I am not sure that the Landmarks Commission will let us. Their thing is that since it has been here longer than not it is part of the 'fabric' of the building. But the regime has changed a bit and the Filson Society is getting ready to install a skybridge pedway in a historic register neighborhood and the powers that be are letting them.

I understand their thoughts but removing that entrance & stairs would dramatically improve the overall appearance of your home; maybe down the road a bit?! ;)
