My grandfather was cleaning a gun in his bedroom when it went off by accident. The bullet went through the floor & took out the entire living room plaster ceiling! I bet that made a very loud noise! ;)

All of these accounts of plaster incidents are making me glad that my home's original builder/owner used Homasote rather than plaster in 1927 for the construction. Despite 87 years of blast effects from the Navy base, there has been only one ceiling crack, plus the Homasote has some sound insulating properties (not as good as plaster, I know). For this little, rural community, I give the guy props for being a pretty forward-thinking builder for his time - and he was a ship's carpenter too!
