Have you learned how to get the falcons to scrape paint? Now THAT would be useful! ;)

Sink looks very cool! I assume the wall has studs? Could you install blocking between them to allow you to center the sink where it should be? It would involve cutting into the wall, but you can be fairly surgical, and having done it, I can say that it's not too hard.

The wall doesn't seem to have studs where you'd need them to hang a sink. Baffling, really. I'm hoping that adapting the hanging plate will solve my problem, because I don't really want to re-sculpt all those plaster "tiles" that I spent so much time on.

Hi Lisa,

What I'm talking about would definitely involve resculpting some of those tiles, so maybe adapting the hanging plate is your best bet.

Basically, to install blocking, you would remove plaster and lath in a section between two (or more) studs, and then bridge the gap between them with 2X4's or 6's running from one stud to the other and affixed securely to them (I use screws and construction adhesive), then re-plaster over. Now you have solid wood behind your wall where-ever you need an attachment point. You only need to remove enough plaster to slip the blocking into place. Here's a quick google of what I'm talking about (though they opened up way more wall - for plumbing - then you need to for just inserting the blocking): http://hostedmedia.reimanpub.com/TFH/St ... Can you get into that wall from the other side?

So I had a long talk with the really nice sales guys at the local plumbing supply place, and looked at all the alternatives.

And then I had a coworker modify my hanging plate.

Fingers crossed that it works.

Test-fitted for now. We'll take this down so I can finish painting the plaster tiles board.

What I had my co-worker make me. Seems to work perfectly.
