We've been fooling around with panoramic photographs.

I am not very familiar with Oakland, but got curious after seeing the style of your home. I aimlessly wandered Oakland on google maps and was really shocked and how prevalent historic homes, especially bungalows, are in Oakland. My main burning question; how on earth have so many of them retained their historic appearances??? I live in an old city, but nearly all of the historic stalk has been vinyl or aluminum sided and had windows replaced. It's really a shame, because it's stripped a lot of character from the neighborhoods.

Maybe I just blindly stumbled into only the nicer areas?

I think it probably has to do with the milder climate. There would be less maintenance, and so less desire to cover/eliminate the more labor-intensive details with easy-to-maintain vinyl and aluminum.

It's pretty much Bungalow Heaven, out here.

We saw some dreadful remuddling when we were house-shopping, but overall the charm remains.

I'll have to think about why that it.

Climate is one reason, for sure. You should see the great old neon signs around here. I'm convinced that it's the lack of ice storms that have saved them.

Halloween Night. The neighborhood trick-or-treaters loved this.

Things are progressing.

I'm really enjoying the Benjamin Moore Advance paints. These new water/oil alkyd hybrids are very interesting to work with.

I can't get the embedded link to work. Apparently my brain isn't working that way, this morning...

Today we popped out our windows, to the work easier. This was the first time in decades that the top panes moved freely.

Good news on your windows...
We have windows on our list, but the dining room windows have been sealed shut. The weights and cords were removed with something injected into the space. Hopefully they can be fixed.
