Looks like I have some tree trimming to do to take advantage of the new view.

Here is the roof completely torn off. The old roof was barely 2/12 pitch, so it didn't shed snow despite having a metal roof. We tore off the rafters while keeping the ceiling joists as a work surface.

An example of how badly bowed the existing rafters were. The one laying on the ground on the right you can see cracking, which is bad. A couple more winters and I think we would of had a collapse. The new trusses are far sturdier and have also solved our leak issues (despite not having the metal roofing on yet!)

I like your choice of new windows! I increased the slope on the rear wing of our old farmhouse when we had to replace the rotted out standing seam 15 years ago.

My parents have an apple orchard, so we have been spending our weekends helping out up there instead of on the house. It has also been rainy so we've done a lot of interior work. However, since the last update we have managed to get the rest of the roof overhang done, as well as siding under the windows and a bit of trim.

I gave the siding under the windows a bit of a flare outwards, as is the style at a lot of houses in my area. Next up will be the metal roofing on the front and siding on the east side of the house.

Looks so lovely. We're hoping to get out to our place near Annapolis this fall before the snow. Got a roof to repair. I miss the maritimes.---Mal

My house has a flare at the bottom, but it is more like a "flip."

I wanted to get the roof on before it got cold enough for snow to stick around, so last weekend I pushed hard to get the dormer siding done as well as the metal roofing.

A little bit of trim work then the staging can come down!

I bet the staging took a whole lot of time to build, but paid for itself on the back half. Still, in bad weather, it could be dangerous. Time to wrap this project up. It has been such a treat to watch this come together.

We finished off the siding on the front of the house, and this is about as far as we got on the east side before snow/cold temperatures drove us in. I was hoping to finish but no luck. All our window trim is done though and waiting in the garage, so once spring arrives we can make short work of the siding.

So far over the winter we have been working on the interior. I just posted in another thread showing the reclaimed hardwood we are currently putting down in the entryway. We also installed some new hardwood in the master closet (it matched the hardwood in the bedroom). We also installed a wooden shelving system, which matched our existing furniture pretty well!

We also installed the hardwood in the upstairs of the addition. We bought this stuff off kijiji, so it is reclaimed as well, but not as old as the hardwood in the entryway. We actually ran out with about 10% of the room left, so we had to search for more and the last little bit ended up costing us more than the rest of the floor
