Shingle colors on a craftsman bungalow
Here's the house we're negotiating on. We're having the roof looked at next week. If we need to reroof what color of shingle should we go with. I know many original Chicago bungalows had tile. We definitely can't afford that. I've seen several pictures from original sales catalogs that show green shingles. Is that considered original? Or should we just go with a nice charcoal gray to be as unobtrusive as possible?

Green shingles are a pretty specific color that may limit trim colors you can choose for your home. The black or charcoal probably allows for more trim colors.

You mean other than the ridiculous yellow vinyl siding on the soffets and dormers? I can't wait to see what's under there.

I agree that green might be kind of limiting to what other colors will look good on your house. But, as your link points out, green (and red) would be appropriate for the age of the house.
Maybe you could take a look at original tile roofs nearby, and get a shingle color to match one of those that you like?

Personally I think Green would be great.
