Pine can have curly/quilted/birdseye figures too.

? I'm sure there is heart maple, it just means the inner, dead wood of the trunk. "Curley" and what not refers to the cuts ...

Ahhh,see I'm not familiar with western pine. I doubt there is much of that here in WI.
My guess was based on the common woods I see around here.
