Where to buy scaffolding online?

Post by tonyp1 »

Im going to need 25 ft. Is there any type that works better for old house maintenance or painting? I have some narrow areas to squeeze it into. Also I know I dont want the type with wheels as it will be setting on the ground and I will need to be able to level it.

Using poles and clips can get you into difficult places and on uneven ground.

I bought pumpjacks - because of a narrow clearance thing like you have - from Badger Ladder. I think they had a special where the delivery was free. This was two or three years ago now. Pumpjacks do require a bit of instruction, if you've never set one up before, but you might find someone to show you how - even if you pay him for an hour or two. Badger also carries scaffolding.

Do you really want to buy, or can you rent?

Buy it. I went with a 26' tower package from http://www.scaffoldmart.com
Read some of their materials and watch some of the videos on their website. It will help make sense of all of the weird scaffolding terminology.

I looked at that too. Problem with that set up is those support extensions that they add to the bottom. I dont have room for those. My house sits about 6FT on either side form the next house. The top most part of my roof gables are 30 FT.

The outriggers are able to swing around so they don't have to be perfectly diagonal out from the corners. Also they say you don't need outriggers if you buy the optional tie bars to attach the tower to the house. We did work at 30 foot and did use both the tie bars and outriggers but overall it's a really stable system.

Here's mine. This set is about 3' wide. It's scary when your up high due to the width of the platform. Found them on Craigslist. Be sure to check there. You might get lucky.
