1920's Bungalow - We are (of course) still in renovation mode, with the demolition completed right after thanksgiving to bring the "little bedroom" back from 8'5" to full width of 12'10". That room, while nice and big, requires lots of WORK! However, the living room is beautiful with the new colonnades, dividing wall, closet and big heavily decorated Christmas tree sitting brightly right in the middle, the other side with the fireplace, and looking into the dining room...nice. I sit here looking around at the mess from electrical work just completed and think of all the restoration work we we did before/afters flashing in my eyes. It looks like its always been this way, nothing looks 'new'!
Well, that's it for Sunday morning pondering. There's still work to be done but its occurred to me that we are over the hump. When I get this cleaned up, there's not much to have to explain or make excuses for, its a great place to live, and better than it ever was since husbands family bought it in 1962. I'll post a few pictures. Never thought we'd really get to this place of satisfaction!

Is that a flat screen tv above the fireplace? If so how did you deal with the wires? My husband has been wanting to do that with ours but I have a oil painting there.

Looks great!! I know your pain on when it is all put back and done right you can't tell it was ever done at all..the out side of my house was like that.
Love that stained glass! Amazing!!
I am at year 6 myself, hope I am nearing the end of my mess as well.

Its not about feeling pain though, we are happy it looks old and worn in. We want the house to be back to the original as much as possible. That's why the door thing is such a difficulty. (Re: my separate post about the door being two tone pine on one side and oak on the other.) When they moved the door to "remuddle" they cut it down and reversed it, now to put it back where it belongs it needs to be cut down and reversed again because I stripped it this weekend and found different woods on each side. The carpenter doesn't understand why we don't just paint the door like normal people, but we are going back to the original finishes with the wood. He has to cut down the door and the doorframe to install, and he doesn't get why we are insisting this be done.
