what is this garage door style called... and where might i find some hardware for it. The locking mechanism is missing a lot of pieces and i have to use a deadbolt. Now since we will be fixing the garage up, id like to fix the old door up. I've had a heck of a time trying to find the right terms online.

I believe the generic term is canopy door.

My grandfather had one like that on his garage, it had a box of rocks on the side as a counterweight, does your have some sort of counterweight?

No, it has to very large springs that attach into the floor on both sides. Apparently some consider this to be dangerous because they can cause damage if they break... not to mention the 300lbs door.
Re: what is this garage door style called...
sorry, can't contribute regarding your questions....
a while back at my brother's house i pressed the button to close one of the garage doors before entering the house through a regular hinged door...just as i got in i heard a loud crashing sound...i investigated and found that one of those long real heavy duty springs had sprung straight across the room...amazingly, it caused no damage and missed the two cars...the spring was reinstalled with a cable through the center of it...next time the spring gets sprung it won't go far...
...jade

Don't park too close.....the front of a car will smash one all to hell.

You may already realize this but....
If part of your plans includes installing a garage door opener you might not need to install the hardware. Some time ago I had a place that had a garage door like that and when the opener was put in the installers disabled the locking latches on the side of the door.

Yes that's so the door can't accidentally be locked & cause the opener to short circuit or burn out. The opener causes the door to essentially be locked anyway.
