Small Steam Generator

Post by Willa »

This would be great for making a steambox for repiaring sash windows. I don't know if it gets as hot as the professional clothing steamers that are usually recommended, though ?

For a similar price you can pick up a large Jiffy clothes steamer used on ebay - if you are willing to wait

a kettle from the thrift will work fine. Like with heat guns and such the limit is going to be pretty much under what a 15 amp outlet can handle and meet electrical standards. once appliances go beyond that and need 20 amps then they aren't really consumer products. steam is 100 degrees Celsius 212 F at sea level , you can't get it hotter unless you contain it. If you want to know how much steam it generates, (the volume of steam) this is of course related to the amps it draws. the manufacturer needs to specify that.
