Floor finish color

Post by Corsetière »

I could use a second opinion, please. I'm getting ready to order sample of the Rubio Monocoat.

http://www.monocoat.us/Color-Samples/

Which one looks closest to a garnet shellac? For reference this is the finished product of my banister (using stain and garnet shellac).

Maybe "Cherry Coral"? "Cherry"? "Ruby" looks weirdly artificially red to me....

Kind of hard to tell on a computer monitor, the base wood is going to affect the final color a lot as well. Cherry Coral seemed in the right ball park... FWIW my Citrine on Maple did not turn out quite as yellow orange as the color chip looked, though I almost freaked out when I looked at the oil and it was bright, bright orange!

Interesting...did you call them for advice on color or did you just pick from the photos?

if you need to use the buffer as part of the application process, how do you do that on things like stairs? or is it absolutely necessary to buff it?
