Putting in a swing door between the kitchen and dining rooms.
I have two sets of hinges, one larger than the other.
The door is pine, 32 by 79 with a double strength glass. In the top 3 feet. It is slightly too thick for the smaller set of hinges, way too thin for the larger set.
The larger set I could beef up the door where the hinges go on.
Any input on which set to use, or tricks from someone who is been here?
Thanks!
Chaz

Here are the manufacturer's guidelines for installing them:

there's also a youtube video on the subject, but I haven't watched it, so I can't vouch for it.

Re: swing door hinges
Ive got a set of 4 but mine are new and probably more like the larger size. I thought maybe I could use them on a gate or something but I'm not sure how they would take the outdoors weather. maybe if they had a cover to protect them from rain and then greased them well they might be ok.
the only solution I can see is to just use the small ones on one side and the large ones on the other , and beef up the edge of that door but it still wouldn't really be "right"
I think you can adjust the tension by turning the little locking collar and then fixing it in a new position.
maybe you could look around the old house parts places and see if you can find some that match one or the other a bit closer. you could probably use them although the size isn't' quite right for the door. maybe some trim could hide them when the doors are closed?
