Thanks all of you for your suggestions, they really did direct our research.
I found a few great places for tile, and the cost for our final designs, depending on store, ranged from a few hundred, to more than $2000. We really loved the encaustic tile designs but were concerned we could not accommodate their thickness. We looked at every tile shop in Rochester, NY, we looked at Granada tile (and almost bought!), we looked at Villa Lagoon, Ancient Tile, etc. etc. etc. Finally, before we were to ink a deal for $1000, my husband looked at Overstock.com and we found something similar that worked. And at a cost of only $200 or so!

So, we installed a heating coil underneath the tile, and hub just calked it last night. Next up: baseboards and finishing.
The rest of our house is so 'dark' so I love this splash of design and brightness. Plus it has the three colors we use int he house: light brick red, sage green, and something like a hubbard squash. See attached. Will post final work later.

That does look nice and after I visit my chiropractor I am going to look into that "arabesque" in white or something similar for my kitchen on that granada tile link.

Ikamms, it seems there's a bug with folks who upload from their phone. I've seen Mick say such in other threads. I don't recall if anyone's tried this yet, but go into your gallery to that photo and hit the edit button. There are radio button options there to rotate the image. Maybe that extra step will work after it's been uploaded? I don't have a smart phone to test it myself.
That tile looks faboo.
Overstock sometimes does have neat things buried, and sometimes you can just get a deal on something you need like those plastic clips that love to break on the metal shelving units. We have a rug from there made of pockets from jeans that we love.
Thanks for the update!
