Today I vacuumed my house. Not like usual, with my duct-taped franken-Rigid shop-vac. This time it was with a bonafide refined Indoor Vacuum. First time in a long time. I feel pretty. :lolno:

Mal, been a long time since you able to vacuume without putting on your work boots I take it. Did you folks ever find the side panels for your other windows?

Did a four more sash strip downs. Looks like whoever glazed this last time really wanted the glass to stay put... either that or they wanted to use up some extra points!

This weekend Im painting 3 living room doors to match the trim. These are home center specials put in by a PO, Ihad not painted them previously because we intend to restore and reinstall the original doors eventually..

Thats going to take a while and on Friday my wife says "Hey why didn't we just paint these ones in the meantime?" Why not indeed?, only a days work.. A little sanding of the factory varnish, primer and a couple coats of color... one day later and the room looks tremendously more finished.

Cleaned out the garage to make it less hospitable for the rat we saw peeking out from under the door as we ate breakfast last weekend. At least it's a fully detached garage!

He was wise enough not to go near the peanut butter baited traps so we had to take a different approach- cleaning!

Doors are done so I pulled the sash out of the den windows in prep for the total repaint and color change we are planning to this room.

They are in rough shape so time to strip and reglaze... So far the lower sash glazing is all coming out easy... uppers gonna take some work. I can see evidence that somebody tried to touch it up in place along the way... some of its going to be a #(&$*(&#%#.

Well, not me, but my wife and kids painted the kids' room. Historically, it's radically inaccurate, but one step closer to the kids having their own space and us having our (larger, prettier) library/guest room back.

Doing two sets of 6 over 6 at once would drive me nuts Jeremy - good job on only 1 cracked pane. This weekend I tackled the 6 over 6's from our doghouse dormer 150 years of sun, rain and neglect mean they are in really bad shape. I have them stripped out but lost 3 panes in the process - kills me because they are really nice wavy glass :(

All in all this weekend on top of the above I stripped, repaired, primed and and rebuilt / reglazed two 2 over 2s, and also finished the paintwork on the side of the house. Upstairs shutters are hung, two more sashes to do and two more shutters to restore and that end will be complete. I hope to get that all done before the season is over.

Our neighbor also approached me about buying the two acre parcel next to us... which contains an old cellar hole and ancient orchard! Just hoping I can make that work without breaking the bank!
