Brass dust corners for stairs

Post by Corsetière »

Does anyone know the time period that dust corners were used during? I'm guessing high Victorian? Were they used as late as 1900?

Most of the ones I've seen were in 1890s-1900s houses, though I've seen them in hardware catalogs as late as the 1920s. A few companies are still making them today.

I had never hear of them before, but I see some images on google. like this

these ones look like repros but they do seem like a neat little detail.

My aunt and uncle have dust corners in their 1908 Dutch colonial, I'm not sure if they are original or if they added them later, though. I always thought they looked neat!

I love this idea! My little papillon has hair. everywhere. I don't know if this would help in Swiffering up all that fluff or if it would look out of place in my 1883 farmhouse, but I am so tempted right now...

Hummm, I can not see the benefits of dust corners. To me they would make wiping down the stairs a nightmare. In my mind you'll have more cracks and crevices. Now on the other hand, if I could employ a 'girl of all work' full time. I might just have them installed, they do look great.
