You guys are quite inspiring! Now I am in the mood to do some Halloween decor. I like the face painting idea and the swinging head...

I think that a lot of parents take their kids to events rather than door-to-door trick or treating now. We get maybe 30 kids, but my husband only buys candy that he likes so he doesn't want any more kids!

I'm hoping to increase my goblins this year. It was kinda depressing when kids just walked by my house because the previous owner didn't participate.
Oh, my ex-brother-in-law used to give every kid that looked to be under 5, or so, a helium balloon so cars would spot them easier. I thought that was a brilliant idea. I'm not in a busy area, so not so much of a concern.

Well, in my Fort Laud hood, things dropped off so badly that I ended up eating the candy, shutting off the lights.

But here, in this slightly younger demographic area, I figured we should give it a shot, bought the realistic looking Jack O Lantern and some lights. Very few decos around here though.

Then I asked my neighbor. He said, zero, zip, nada, don't waste your time. So back to K mart with Jack and the lights it is.

I'll stick to the Christmas display, will watch for that thread... :D

I had about maybe 20 kids. Think the door rang 3 or 4 times. being on a busy street means candy left over ;-) since I don't get many I handed out nice full sized chocolate bars to most. it was fun seeing their reactions and wasn't too expensive to have the best treats on the block. Ill do the same next year. Bribe them to the busy street lol ;-)
