You Might Be an Old Home Owner if...

Post by SouthernLady »

...you get more excited over the prospect of being gifted a heat gun than you do receiving the latest Kate Spade bag.

...people ask you what your color scheme is and you reply by pointing to the paint speck under your thumbnail, the second color fleck behind your knee, and the wood stain still between your fingers.

...you watch period movies with camera in hand just to get ideas for your restoration.

...Nicole Curtis is your role model.

...you (and maybe your friends as well) have honestly planned, plotted, schemed, or attempted handcuffing yourself to an old home set to be demolished just so you can salvage what you can before it was torn down.

...your attorney friend(s) refer to you as "the crazy friend of mine" because you ask them to write you documents stating you will not sue people should the previous historic structure fall on you and kill you during your salvage attempt...

You throw your shoe at the TV when someone on the Home and Garden network rips stuff out of an old house they are remodeling to bring it "up to date".

.....you see a whiny, entitled couple crying that couldn't dream of bringing their own lovely children up in only two thousand square feet with two bathrooms, and you laugh because you raised the first five in an 1100 square foot bungalow with one bathroom and a basement toilet, and the last five thought they were better than the first five because they had their own bedrooms once they hit high school!

You know what 'Sarco' is.

You have ever taken something from your neighbor's trash with the intent of installing it in your house.

You know what Knob and Tube is (and we ain't talking radios) ;)

You take in more old house parts than you need because you view them as "rescue missions".
If everything is coming your way..... You're in the WRONG lane!!!

Gotten used to working with mouse droppings and old mouse nests between floors while chasing wiring because you do know what knob and tube wiring is.
