cute bathroom sink

Post by SweetCottage »

I just saw a really nice cast iron pedestal sink but with a faucet setup that I've never seen before. I'm guessing it's set up like the thin tub spouts to connect a rubber hose for hair washing? It looks to be in good condition. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 4085475231

That was a setup that was popular in barber and beauty shops. I've found a few of them over the years. They're not exactly common, but I wouldn't quite call them "rare".

Not sure when they were introduced, but they seemed to be at their peak around 1920, which is approximately when this one was made. The latest one I've found was on a pedestal sink similar to this one that had a casting date of February 1932. The valve handles didn't have the porcelain and were solid nickel-plated brass.
