Abandoned Farmhouse in Long Island

Post by Nicholas »

This is one of those click bait sites but if you can handle that this secluded house is full of antiques and treasures that have been rediscovered after 40 years

Wow! Thanks, Nicholas. I always like the "frozen in time" houses, but this one is special with its abundance of antiques. What a rare find, and so close to the city.

(The first time seeing that peculiar font with the conjoined "st" - I find it arbitrary and distracting; what do you think?)

I'm talking about the font in the article on the Long Island farmhouse that you linked to above, of course.

If you're asking me what the font is named, I don't know. It looks like it may be a common one like Arial but, as viewed on my monitor, in this and other articles published by Past Factory, there is a ligature between the letters "s" and "t" when they occur together in this order within a word.

Typographic ligatures are a trend in graphic design. It's not a big deal, just the first time I've seen it used in body text.

I'm not seeing it...but then again I just clicked and looked mostly at the pics...I have DuckDuck which eliminates most of the ad BS, so it loaded a lot faster.

Thanks for sharing this Nicholas. It's a shame that like many building left in trust, it wasn't maintained. I fear that may be the excuse some need to use the property for other purposes.

I hope the lady that wants to follow the wishes of Ms. Carll manages to elbow out the other interested parties to do so.
