People are constantly confusing us. (At least, I know I'm frequently confused.)

I don't really see a compelling reason for the shower door to swing in one direction or the other. Refrigerators, on the other hand, are a different story. A refrigerator door that swings in the wrong direction can be a big hassle.

Is your shower head fixed? All of ours swivel a bit so you can direct the water to a certain degree.

I'm with Phil -- shower curtain for the win. Think of it this way: you can make one in any fabric you choose.

Yes, but without a tub edge to keep the shower curtain confined, it will blow out and water will be all over the floor.

The bottom line is--you know you're going to use the door, so swing it whichever way you want!

I stand corrected! Something about that looks a little bit like a torture chamber.

It would take an act of Congress for me not to use the door.

(This is the inside of the shower door with the water deflector on the bottom.)

It is, however, not reversible. The hinge will have to be at the left. Initially I wanted the hinge at the left because after showering I do not linger in the bathroom. (In reality, I'm more peach fuzz than Fabio.) everyone I asked about the swing direction advised (with great conviction) hinge on the right so that's what I looked for. After my discussion with. the tiler, I decided to grab the above-pictured door. I'll live with the presumed inconvenience; it's not, after all, a refrigerator.

Bonnie, I agree that a shower curtain, unless it were weighted, would be blowing all over the place, especially since, in that climate, a fan is a necessity. Also, mildew would be an issue.

Phil, wouldn't you like to see the rest of that house with the notched-out door?

I wondered if the hinges were reversible; from the way you were talking, it sounded like they were. I didn't realize most of the discussion came before your purchase.

Well, your door sides with the tile guy, no room for argument.

I spotted a similar shower door in that fabulous mansion I posted some months earlier:

You know that the door you bought is of superior quality to anything you could buy today.
