Today I came across some photos I took a few years ago of the 1939 City Hall at 210 Lottie Street in Bellingham. (One must distinguish this city hall by date because the original Victorian city hall [1892] is still standing not far away.) It's not in a large city or particularly grand but fans of Art Deco may enjoy this building with its clean lines and attention to detail.

That's some lovely true Art Deco design. My 1933 apartment building in Brooklyn had a similar design in the lobby.

My 1939 Vermont cottage, however, isn't Art Deco at all. I think it's because the people who built it were Quebecois, and the City of Newport is just filled with Victorian houses. I think they were going for an old-timey look so they would blend in. (Which suits me fine!)

I love the brass railings, James. What is the grille-looking geometric thingy in the bottom picture?

Nice building James, even nicer that the city is still using it.
