Mick, I got this from one of my Facebook feeds, Victorian House Lovers.
I have no idea how to repost on the Districts Facebook page.
Other thought, was the folks in the District might be interested. Especially those who are looking for paint scheme ideas.

The illustrations for the Victorian house paint colors are from the reprint of the Devoe Paint Catalog:

Looks to be an interesting book Willa, the kind of reference us old home folks find informative while every one else finds just nice.
Re: Some very interesting period building and paint schemes
My local library has a copy. I wrote more about it in my post in the Reference Dept. The book is a reprint of a catalog.
It has a things like original paint color charts and illustrations that show the same house painted a couple of different ways. It's good because it is a primary source of information. However - there is not much in the way of advice or color theory or anything like that, and the printing was fairly crude, so the illustrated colors are an approximation. Worth having a used copy, if you can find one that is reasonably inexpensive. I've had good luck on ABEBooks. You might be able to arrange an inter-library loan, though ?

Wow - Reading this (and seeing the price of that book on Amazon) makes me feel super fortunate. I have both the 1970's reprint, and the original (huge format) hardbound book from the 1800s. Ill need to look at the old one tonight to see what the date is in it. It has hand painted/cut/glued paint chips in the back. It's one of my library treasures. Can't recall where I found it ... I think somewhere in Indiana.
