AWWH, the weight of a 20 inch door knocker probably pulled the door down on poor old Marley. I wonder does he haunt on hallowed eve or just Christmas.
I think you would need a sizeable and solid door to make that knocker look right. It would just look out of place on a normal door.

Yep - you would need a big, solid oak or walnut door. Preferably in the Tudor style or one of the other Romantic Revivals.
I'd bet anything that this piece is British. Could be early Victorian. The face looks like it's half gargoyle and half lion.

I think Ebenezer only saw him on Christmas Eve that one time. Presumably, there was no reason to come back after that!
Gothichome, I would think this would be right up your alley! It looks very Gothic to me. I don't know about any other periods, but I definitely don't have the door for it. Surprisingly, they are asking only $45 for it!
