1876 Second Empire brick house

Post by Vala »

Some of you may remember this house, well it is for sale again and the lady who bought it has moved back to her homestate and decided to sell it again.

I wish they'd done something about those leaky gutters instead of the roof (since the roof had no leaks). I thought you all would enjoy some more pics of this place. I plan to get an appointment to see the inside and get pics of the interior.

This is the one you went ape over how they were doing the slate work?
You need to let go of this and walk away. :)

Hah yea, its the very same, I just hate seeing the only house in town actually on the historic registry fall apart. My 2 issues with that was that 1. the roof had no leaks, a friend of mine walked through it last time it was for sale and it had no issues. and 2. the way they cut corners doing it. Some parts were not redone the way they originally were and like I said, this house IS on the historic registry so that's just not right. The gutters is what actually needed fixing. Not to mention the fact it was repointed with portland cement a number of years ago...

It is a beautiful house and I understand why it haunts you. I hate seeing these fabulous historic homes fall into disrepair.

That's a gorgeous house - I would love to own something like that. Sad to see the condition slipping, I hope someone buys and loves that house again.

Vala! We both live in Southern IL, and as you know, it's a small world down here. Will you PM me the location of this gorgeous home? I have to know whether or not I've seen it before!
