Sheffield light fixtures
I keep running into these light shades and have found a couple inexpensive ones. I know they are probably early 1900s-1920s, but I can't find out anything more about them. Lots of places sell reproductions of them and don't say anything about their history either. Does anyone know more?

Oaktree, I don't think you are to far off. In the library there is a link to vintage light fixture catalogues. Your answer might be there.
