I spotted this on Kijiji, and had a friend in Toronto pick it up for me.
There's no makers name on it, but from looking online this seems to be a faux French-from-France fixture. There was a spell where (electric) empire fixtures with glass rose shades, cherubs, and swirly baroque bits were all the rage.
I am guessing it is c. 1915 - 1935, probably made in North America ? The vine detail is original. I am unsure if the shades are original or reproductions or swapped out from a different fixture. It had come from a well respected antique lighting store in Toronto, or so the seller said.
The price was right so it is now installed in my dining room ! I finally said good riddance to the Home Depot "chandelier" the PO had installed.
(These are the seller's pics. I was too excited to actually take my own photos.)
My new (old) light fixture
Re: My new (old) light fixture
Nice. Interesting how the rosebud shades maximize the amount of light thrown by the fixture. For overhead fixtures, usually I just want glow. That can, of course, be accomplished by a dimmer.
Great find. Out with the new and in with the old!

Thanks everyone. Here is a better pic of it, installed in the dining room. The shades are frosted and have that slight greenish glass color, which is somewhat perverse for roses. Anyhow - I'm not complaining.

Looks like it's always been there.

Those shades are very interesting (and I mean that in the good way). It's a beautiful fixture.

Re: My new (old) light fixture
Seeing it with all the shades in place, now it's really super nifty. This is coming from someone that is not a fan of roses.
I like how the grapevine fills the negative space on the arms (not sure if that's the correct term) to give them a softer look. I wondering how much more the look would shift with the small round globe style lamps instead of the longer candle flame?
May you enjoy you this little treasure for many years.
