sewing machine

Post by phil »

I don't know if I should go after this since it is an old post. but I had to notice it because it is free and I know someone who has the drawers ;-)

Lily had some, hers were singer. this isn't singer but it seems coincidental.

Minnesota was Sears' badge in the early part of the 20th century. People who like human-powered sewing machines (treadles and hand-cranks) seem to like the Minnesota. Machines were built to last then.

maybe it was rebranded for sears? with radios they were rebranded as "silvertone" for sears. they bought enough that the manufacturers put their house brand on them.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant by "badge." A lot of department stores did that with Japanese sewing machines in the 1950s and 1960s.
