10ft farm table!

Post by oaktree »

I just bought this 10 ft 1800s table for my home studio (which is the addition onto my farmhouse). I am soooo excited!

Very nice indeed Oaktree. Ten feet a long table for a harvest/kitchen work table for most homes. To big for even Gothichome's kitchen. It would be interesting to know its original home. But I can bet it will be a grand home.

Magnificent! I like the casters. What kind of wood?

I am not sure on the type of wood, but I will examine it and ask the sellers next time. The sellers told me they found it in a barn, but I must ask where. The original casters are awesome, but I might replace them with some soft casters to protect my linoleum floor (or eventually get a really big rug). It's in wonderful condition, and it's so huge!

I will ask more about it's history the next time I see the sellers when they deliver it! I didn't ask many questions this time...I just knew that I had to be decisive or else it would be gone.

That is a mighty table ! I wonder if it might have been a library or lab table from a university, etc. ? Of course there were places that had large production line kitchens, like a convent. If it was a farmhouse it was an XXXL house, with lots of staff...

If I had one like that I could save time clearing the table and just shift over a little each day ;-)

I'll try and find out! The sellers called it a baker's table but I'm not sure
