I spotted this on Toronto's CL, and had a friend pick it up for me. It is quite heavy. There are holes in the top of the legs where I suppose the table top would be screwed. Apparently it folds flat. The original paint has a nice patina, too. Is anyone familiar with these ? It looks sort of French to me, possibly early 20th c. Thoughts ?
Odd Cast Iron Table Base, Folding
Re: Odd Cast Iron Table Base, Folding
Very cool--not overly familiar with this form but definitely looks almost industrial. Perhaps it was a piece that folded away at the end of the day. Industrial bases were so well made and done with so much elegance and form. The fold-away aspect leads me to believe it was utilitarian, kind of like those swinging stools that are attached to factory tables. Great find!

Re: Odd Cast Iron Table Base, Folding
I wondered if it was some sort of cafe or patio table, where being able to fold them for storage would be an advantage for the off season ? Like I imagine a restaurant having to store 15 or more tables ?
