Imaginary Shopping for the Porch

Post by Willa »

While I am waiting for the last plaster touch ups in the bathroom to thoroughly dry, I have been obsessing about my back porch. It is so horrible there are no interior photos of it. It is a poorly made shed type room stuck on the exterior wall at the back of the house. Someone attempted to upgrade and insulate it - very, very badly. I have plans to add salvaged windows on the west wall, and undo the bad with the serviceable (ie drywall what is 60's wood paneling, give the brick wall a good scrubbing). Then it can be a porch/laundry room/storage area. I have been thinking about storage, so then I started looking at Kijiji. Then I had to reign myself back in, as a large storage cabinet or cabinets will be in the way until this room is done. I have the kitchen and powder room ahead of the porch - so no new cabinets for me.

That's not stopping me from sharing the best of my imaginary shopping, though.

I think someone snapped these up even though they were somewhat pricey:

I like the sliding doors:

These kitchen cabinets are quite good:

This tall cabinet is probably too nice for cans of paint and winter boots:

This cabinet looks just right. Beat up enough that I wouldn't feel guilt about chips or dings or painting it to match:

What do other people do about storage dilemmas for unsightly stuff ?

Yay, photos! So many choices. I understand what you mean about what's best for the job thinking.

When it comes to messier storage, I think in these terms, in this order:
1) what won't get wrecked

2) what makes me happy

3) who else will see it
