Well I finally got that new build into our piano lamp. It's a tungsten filliment bulk 25 watt. A little better.

Very nice! I have been finding that the modern carbon filament "vintage" bulbs give a light that very closely resembles the color temperature of kerosene. if you get the smaller ones they fit well inside a lamp chimney.

Yup. I don't care what anyone says or how many ways they try to warm up the color of LED's...nothing comes close to incandescent.

Well folks blew the 2016 antique budget even before 2015 ended. Bought this bedroom suite for the master. It would have been a very expensive suite when new and the high end quality would justify the cost, both then and now.
The set was built in 1868. The bed was originally built as a Victorian king size wich means a modern queen drops rite in. A rare size to find, it has not been modified for queen size and it solid walnut. We have three pieces, a set of drawers and a wash stand as well, all match.
The mirror stands almost nine feet high, the carcass is oak the rest is walnut the top white marble.
The washstand/camode has lost it's marble back board, other than that this set is complete except for a tall boy dresser.
We have been looking for a matching bedroom suite for years, this showed up on the local Kajjiji (Canadian version of Craig's list). It was the rite antique, in the rite style, in the rite condition, and at the rite price. Bought the day the listing came out.

Wow, what luck and such a beautiful set! That headboard is as tall as your doors! Enjoy it.

Thanks, it was a matter of biting the bullet now or hope we find another set as nice in the future at the same cost. As mentioned it has been years that we have been looking.
Al, took this pic with all you fine carpenters in mind.
This is one of the draw slides/glides each draw has a pair. They make the draws slide effortlessly with no side jamming. There is a brass spring loaded pivot. Have any of you seen a set up like this in the past?
This is the stamping, patented 1859, also just noticed a date of 1860. Hummm, wonder if this set was built then rather than 1868.
