Gothichome wrote:This is the very first proper period lamp we bought for the home. Dates from the last quarter of the 1800's. It is Flemish, Has a majolica font and centre draft burner. The framing holds nine candles all held up with Griffins. We bought it with out the shade. Do to the odd size of the shade ring (European size, is larger than than what's common here) I had to import it from Belgium. The story we got when we bought it was that it came from a large home in Europe, made its way to Canada via a container lot of antiques.

As with most of our lamps, I just dropped a 25W chandelier bulb down the chimney.

What a lovely piece! How about some close ups of the body?

Kelt, how about this. We bought it to mount in the front hall, but when we hung it we found it hung way too low. From hook to pull down it hangs about four feet. Far to low for a traffic area. But perfect for over the table.

Mo, you turned my pic on its side. Are you seeing my pics sideways, is every one seeing my pics sideways? I see them correctly.

The above pic is a repost, to me it rite side up. If not to you folks, it must an anomaly some thing like finding some thing square and plumb in our old homes.
