Because we paid a piano mover to do it.

We also had a 300+ pound elliptical machine that need to go from the garage to the basement, so it was worth it...

Hey, it's finally done! Master Bath Before and After

Started packing up kitchen stuff last night. Tentative plan is to start the kitchen demolition on June 1.

I am so looking forward to this...

Me too, what are your plans for the kitchen, keep it some what original in feel?

The plan is get to a feel that's consistent with the house. Original would be challenging as the space was originally two rooms, a prep/staging kitchen and a butler's pantry that were combined into a single room in the 1980s. Originally the kitchen was in the basement.

We're gutting it to the studs and losing the inappropriate ceramic floor tile in favor of quarter sawn oak that is consistent with the public spaces in the house. Halfway done with the kitchen. My contractor is doing most of the work, but he and I will be installing the in-floor hydronic heat in the next couples of days...

I still have to do the electrical for the panel and make the last connection to the boiler, though.

The kitchen is 99% complete as of Friday. There are a few little things that need to be corrected, but I'm declaring victory.

Ooooooo, would you look at that. I will not show upper management how well your kitchen turned out. Although the previous kitchen served the purpose, it does look out of place for the age of your home. The new kitchen, most befinatly looks like it would fit with homes age. I think it's the wainscoting. Good choice to leave the curve at the butlers pantry, it removes the angularity that the original had. Well done, I see your wine rack is still full though.
