I have a picture from my house that has stairs that look almost exactly like that under the carpet when I pulled it up!

My guess is that you are using an iOS device (iphone or ipad) there is a bug in the software for the camera on those devices that sets the EXIF orientation info incorrectly under certain circumstances. When the pictures upload to the site the uploader rotates them as per the EXIF info, so sometimes rotates when not needed due to the iOS bug. You can get around this by uploading your pics to the Gallery section of the site and linking to there when you do a forum post, or you can edit your pictures on your computer before uploading (simply rotate them right round then save)

There is omething odd about these pictures; a couple open normally & others do nothing just a black X in a box & the jpeg description.
