Another OHW/WG IMMIGRANT

Post by Gothichome »

For those who for some unknown reason or are just plain new to us here, this is Gothichome. A big old girl leisurely passing the centuries on the banks of a slow meandering river. Sort of like what I would like to do should she let me

I absolutely adore your home Gothic. It reminds me somewhat of a huge victorian of a similar character that a distant aunt of mine owned in Cardiff Wales. Her place was so big it had a complete butler's apartment off the back servants stair that was big enough for her son and family! Hers was the only one in the neighborhood that had not been subdivided into apartments and she had it fully stocked with period furniture.

Alooha! Do you have pics of your three-tone woodwork in the front hall? I always liked that house.

I love those arched windows, and the keystone designs, There are not a lot of brick homes in that style from what I have seen.

The front hall paneling

This how it looks today, still not finished. The paint stripping and staining has moved down the priority list last last couple of years. But you can get a feel for the three tone staining.

This is what it would look like when done.

This one of the bed rooms I did get done.

Gothichome - are you taking in any boarders ? Because i would like to apply...

Your house just kills me in all the right ways. I remember your original post at WV. I was just stunned by all the original details.

Love sickest, rent is twenty feet of paint scraping every day and then stain prep.

Is that with a heat gun or infrared paint stripper ? You could get a real B&B going for all the old house slaves who just can't leave their house chores on holiday.

Well as mentioned on other site we believe we are fortunate to be part of the homes history. Looked at many, some good, some great but many just plain poor. Gothichome just seemed to say welcome home to us.

Welcome. I did not know about that tri-tone paneling. That is a whole lot of work. Good on you.
