I did some more work in the kitchen today. So far I have: knocked down loose plaster, removed steel tiles and dried mastic from the lower half of the walls, gutted the 1950's cabinets, walled off a doorway that lead to the master bedroom (there is another door from the bedroom in the hallway), replastered, put up beadboard, installed baseboards, had the kitchen plumbed for a gas range, rewired/added outlets, painted the metal tiles that remain behind the sink, painted the built-in cabinet, and painted all the trim, doors, and window.

Today I worked on painting the walls, installing trim at the top of the beadboard, and painting trim. This week we're installing oak laminate floor, and once that goes in we'll really be able to get moving!

Thanks, Don! We're trying to get as much done as possible by our Aug 1 move in date. I'm off for the summer and my hubby works part time, so any time we can get a babysitter lined up, we're over at the house working. Grandma is getting a lot of baby qt this summer.

That's an interesting place to put the radiator. Did they run out of wall space away from the sink?

Gothichome, I think that's exactly what happened. There were five doors in the 12x15 kitchen, with the built in hutch on one wall and the stove on another. Really, the only place left was under the sink. It will make washing dishes cozy this winter! There is a radiator box that covers it, but we took it off while working.

What did you do for the flooring in the dining room ? Is that the original wood flooring that was under the lino or new wood or laminate on top of the vinyl flooring that was there ?
